Disabled Students’ Allowance (DSA)
The Disabled Students’ Allowance (DSA) provides financial support for study-related costs arising from a mental health condition, long-term illness, or disability. This support is available alongside other student finance and is based on individual needs, not household income.
DSA does not require repayment and can provide up to £26,291 annually for both undergraduate and postgraduate students.
Eligible expenses include:
Specialist equipment (e.g., computers)
Non-medical helpers (e.g., BSL interpreters, note-takers)
Extra travel costs for attending courses or placements
Additional disability-related study support (e.g., printing for proofreading)
